Mike ‘Molten Moose’ Jack

The first chilli head we will discuss is Mike ‘Molten Moose’ Jack from London, Ontario in Canada. Mike, like a lot of people around the world, was devastated by the fires that inflicted so much grief on the Australia wildlife earlier this year. This encouraged him to set up a fundraising campaign to raise money for WIRES – WILDLIFE INFORMATION, RESCUE AND EDUCATION SERVICE to help them help animals suffering from the Australian wildfires.

WIRES Australian Wildlife Rescue’s mission is to actively rehabilitate and preserve Australian wildlife and inspire others to do the same. WIRES has over 2,500 volunteers and a Rescue Office that operates 365 days a year assisting the community to help native animals in distress.

So, what makes Mike lucky enough to get a seat at this table of pain? Well, apart from kicking off the whole fundraising campaign and pushing this great idea to involve this incredible Spoonful of Terror challenge to encourage donations, Mike currently holds the Guinness World Record for eating the most Bhut Jolokia chillies in 1 minutes AND he holds the Guiness World Record for the fastest time to eat 3 Bhut Jolokia chillies! Regarding sheer endurance and bravery, his achievement of eating 22 Paqui Chips in one sitting stands out, along with his brave 56 Carolina Reapers in one sitting challenge!

Mike is no stranger to pain and has displayed many times over that he is not afraid of the burn. However, Mike has given an inkling of his concerns about the Spoonfuls of Terror event, stating in his recent Tube of Terror practice video that compared to the Guinness Record success “…this one is totally different cos it’s not speed though it’s like, endurance”! This could be the big problem for Mike, as we have seen his gag reflex take-over in Ed Currie’s Facemelter chilli eating contest last year and the big fear for him is will his body reject those crazy hot peanuts after a few tubes and a lot of time passes by? There is no doubt Mike has the heart and passion and is not the type to quit, but what will happen when that gag reflex starts to kick in and he cannot control his body’s natural urge to reject those brutal peanuts?

LOF Prediction for the Spoonfuls of Terror Challenge: 4 Tubes

We think this could be a real challenge for Mike. He has only had the fortune to practice with one Tube prior to the event so far, so training wise he is behind some of the others. However, Mike has proven to up his game when there is a large crowd watching and because this event is to raise money for his campaign he could find some super human strength and cling on longer than many people would expect. That display at the Facemelter contest in which Mike was sick has given us reason to believe his body may reject those nuts after a certain amount of pain and discomfort. We think he will successfully complete 4 Tubes of Terror but that 5th Tube may be a nut too far!
